Students will utilize a wiki for the purpose of reviewing, and sharing insights, into the standards put in place by New York State (a link to the standards resources kept here on BlackBoard is found below).
The purpose of the assignment is for students to build familiarity with the language and specifics of the standards. These investigations will lay the groundwork for when students begin to identify the specific standards that will be incorporated into their Unit of Study Project.
As this is to be a collaborative effort, students should share insights and details that they believe are important to them and their classmates. Hence the wiki format (a link to the wiki is also found below). Thank you to Courtney for creating the wiki. The actually management and organizational processes used on the wiki are left entirely to the students to determine and enforce. The only requirement is that the wiki be structured in such a way that someone unfamiliar with the content of the wiki could easily find and navigate to the information they desire.
Finally, please do not limit yourself to reviewing just the standards that you think you will be using to create your unit. As a teacher, you will be responsible for all of them; this includes different subjects and different grade levels. So be sure to look at the a large number of standards. Collectively with your classmates, you should be able to create a reasonable summary of most of the standards provided, which will in turn benefit everyone.
